Back Alley Brawl 4

June 15, 2009 by lhpro

Hey hi and hello…

MAY was just a little to tight on the schedule to even think of getting a blog in… and june came up too quick.  We finished up another Back Alley Brawl on June 13.  That makes it #11 in shows for Left Hook. Rather a nice accomplishment, and it seems to be drawing attention of many folks.  Can’t hardly wait for amateur mma- if we ever get any updated news on it!!

I will return with the fight card, wins, updated ranking and news about the next show!!!

Train hard and smart in the meantime!

Word to the wise- it is not up for discussion, or debate. You have all the right to disagree but it is put together based on a few things. 1. The majority of your record having been in Left Hook Events 2. Actively still competing for us 3. Whom your opponents were 4. How the results of the wins were.

Back Alley Brawl 3 Down and Dirty

Back Alley Brawl 3 Down and Dirty

Hey guys and gals.. its time again for another Back Alley Brawl…  This one will be at the Davie Police Althetic League, its a bigger “small” venue to hold us fight fans in.   Let me fill you in on a few things!  I’m really excited about this show- although its the 3rd BAB it is Left Hook’s 10th event.  We have hit the double digits!!!! It also means we have hosted enough fights to start our own ranking system.  Look for that to be up on our site in the next few weeks- keep in mind its only going to reflect your ISKA records with us, so if you compete out of town in IKF or other governing body events and want that information to be considered- YOU will have to send it to me.    Let’s leave that for now…. On to the matches:

“this is not in order and it can change at any time”

Manny Cespedes 2-1 Champions Muay Thai vs Jarrod Arndt 2-2 MHMMA 160

Steve Degerdon 0-1 ATTCC vs Sergio Rodriguez Evolution MA 0-1  170

Alex Navon  debut Miami Fight Club  vs Josh Mercado Evolution MA 0-1  135

Bento Goncalves  1-2 TKA vs  Carlos Miranda 1-1 Young Tigers 165

Josh Jureidini  10-3 san shou Wing Lung vs John Mangual FFA 3-0 boxing, 3-0 Kickboxing 147

Raul Irizarry 3-0 Inferno MMA vs Mike Ozuna 5-0-1 US 1 Fitness 165

Grappling:  Fred Moncaio Team Popovich  vs Jonathan Wright  Team Marcelo Garcia No Gi 179

Tickets are moving fast… contact me if you need some- 954-235-2952 or email me, coop@lefthookpro.com

Also.. we will be announcing the Fighting Rookie Card for Caleb Archer at our event. Caleb won our Warriors Collide belt back in Jan 2009 and has since made his Professional debut.  We are hoping Caleb will be attending so we can give him some of the cards for his friends/family, sign a few for us and acknowledge his Pro MMA win.

See you at the fights!!!!

Warriors Collide 7 RESULTS….

January 26, 2009 by lhpro
Thank you fans for coming out on Saturday for Warriors Collide 7.  DK Photo will have pictures and video up as soon as possible- 7,000 pictures were snapped at the event.  Anyone interested in hard copy print of an individual fight can buy them from Dave directly.

Young Tigers Samuel Alonzo made his record 3-0, winning by decision over debuter Edir Terry of FFA. Edir took the fight after Javier Baez became injured.. you should expect to see Samuel and Javi locking it up in the future!  Both guys want a chance to take down the other, expect fireworks fans!

MJ Holland of Fizogen, had his debut spoiled by Mustafa Malik. Mustafa, who trains under Mark Sinopoli , moves to 3-0.  This one ended in decision, we are looking forward to having both these guys in another WC event!

Sheldon Cobbler had to work extra hard to improve his record to 2-1. Steve Scobe’s debut earned him a few stitches, sure to add a little more fuel to his training. I’ve no doubt he’ll be in Bears Den working hard with profighter Chris DeCaro.

A Big thanks to John Hangual of FFA for offering his handy work, and it paid off for him!  FFA and Young Tigers agreed on this match at about 5:30, just showing that you NEVER KNOW when you might get a chance to step in the ring. Being prepared, its just part of being a fighter!!   John moves his KB record to 3-0 vs Alexis Ogando 2-1.

In our Grappling match.. Pablo Popovich’s student, Fred Moncaio, redeems himself by earning the win against Tough Academy’s Mike Langebeck.  Fred was very disappointed in his last match at BAB2 and promised us a win at WC7! Great work ethic by both teams!

Greg Pesetsky of Round 2 Kickboxing puts his debut loss behind him by nabbing the win against debuter Jeff Jones.  Jeff got injured early in the fight and could not continue after the first round.  While incredibly disappointed, Jeff showed tons of heart!

Calvin Higgins of ATA and Jarrod Arndt of Shihan Moti MMA were intense.  Jarrod didn’t have an ounce of quit in him and Calvin wasn’t backing down either… a little blood here never hurt anyone!  Calvin edged Jarrod with the win, making him 1-0 and Jarrod 2-2.

We at LHP are sad to see him go but will be cheering him on: Alan Arzeno of South Florida MMA.  Alan is one of those guys that when you see him in the ring he’s just a beast, and when you get to know him is an absolute gentleman.  Getting a guy to step in with him was no easy task.  Alan was 4-0 coming into this fight, 3 of those by TKO.  KO Club Danny Lemo stepped up to the challenge!  First round these two were banging it out, in the second Alan did what Alan does: throws bombs to put you out.  Alan ended the fight by TKO.  He completes his amateur status with a 5-0 record and debuts as a pro  mma fighter on Feb 14 in Daytona Beach FL.  All the best to you, Alan!!!

Co Main Event:  Raul Irizarry Inferno MMA 2-0 vs Denis Hernandez 4-1 FFA
This is the BEST Raul we have seen yet!  Denis is a warrior!!  At one point the two were clinched and fell with Raul on top of Denis- both legs under his body. This could easily have been a career ending fall blowing out both knees.  Luckily, Denis jumped up and shook it off. AMAZING!!!  Superman punches, body kicks, leg kicks, this match had it all!  In the end Raul got the win moving to 3-0!  Denis will have to find one more victory in order to regain his chance at a title.  After the fight, he told us that keeping his mind on the chance at a belt is what motivated him to keep going!

Left Hook SuperFight: 140lb Warriors Collide Belt.
Caleb Archer 6-2 ATT vs Carlos Garcia Young Tigers 6-2
Anyone wondering where the superstars we watch today learned to be so technical in the stand up game, needs to see the video of this match.  Both young men came to collect that belt!  Trading punching combo’s and kicks to the ribs kept the 4 rounds of action very close. At times you might feel bad for the judges, having to score a fight that was this close. Either way you knew one camp was going to be upset.  That night, Caleb got the better of the fight and went home with that beautiful belt!!

Congratulations to all of you WARRIORS!! YOU ROCK!!!

Gone too long…Jan 24 2009 WC7

December 9, 2008 by lhpro

Welcome back to the blog- I know MANY, MANY of you have been asking whens the next event and WHAT will be the next event?

As it stands today- Dec 9, 2008- we await the good word out of the Boxing Commission office to confirm that Jan 1 2009 Amateur MMA will be a green light.  So, just like all of you…. the suspense is killing us (or me really)

Dec 14 will be the first Amateur MMA Seminar for officials. The ISKA is working hard to build a great network of qualified folks to judge, timekeep, scorekeep and referee.  Left Hook will be in attendance learning all we can about the new rules and what judges will be looking for.

Since I, Coop, spend much of my time keeping up on who is fighting and winning belts in our lil state- I’d like to congradulate- Jerry Daniels of Elite Muay Thai for winning the Oriental Rules- ISKA Super Heavy Weight Belt this past weekend.  Joseph Denick won the Oriental Rules- ISKA Southeast Light Middle Weight Regional Title and Thomas Prisco won the O/R rules ISKA Light Cruiserweight Belt all at the Battle of Tampa Bay XI  (you can check out www.amiracademy.com to find out when the next one is).  So all my guys who are interested in getting their hands on some belts.. keep checking back to see who you might need to challenge for that opportunity!

Ron Elam ATT CC vs Raynold Telux Debut Xtreme Martial Arts

TBA Young TIgers! vs Greg Pesetsky Debut Round 2 KB

Saturday Night IFC2 was held at the Miami Mart.
Great venue! 9 matches and 2 exhibitions went off-
Josh Mercado of Tough Academy lost by decision to Samuel Alonso of Young Tigers.
I could easily see FFA Javier going against either of these guys in the battle of the 135ers!

Jarrod Arndt goes 2-1 pulling off the win vs Rolle Lavado and they get the picture in the Miami Herald’s write up of the show!

Alan Arzeno proves once again that he is serious contender by handing FFA their 1st kickboxing loss of the YEAR (yes.. the YEAR!!). A solid knee to the body ended Lamberto Duarte’s debut. A 2nd round TKO.

Elite Muay Thai gets back on the winning track with Kyle Cagne over Carlos Miranda of Young TIgers.

Michel Quinones (fighting on Saturday!) gets the win in his debut over Moses Rubio of UMAA- this was easily the biggest battle of the night.. the judges could have gone either way.

Augustino Allision of Elite Muay Thai goes 2-0 over John Wilkinson Att Wolfpack.

South Florida MMA- Duviel Vargas, can’t get a break as the judges awarded the win to Mike Ozuna of Training for life.
Mike was awarded his Black Belt in front of the crowd for all his hard work and committment! Duvi- has improved so much in all aspects of his game and I look forward to seeing him continue to push for that W!

Jesus Hernandez of Tiger Dragon proved to be another stepping stone in the undefeated streak of FFA’s Joe Ray now 7-0. In the first round Joe peppered Jesus with punches and cut his nose. All cleared to continue, Jesus tried unsuccessfully to keep Joe away. Using leg licks to move inside on Jesus, Joe unleashed his boxing combo’s to keep him against the ropes. In a final upper cut a rain storm of blood landed on the officials ringside and ended the match by referee.
A second round TKO for Joe Ray!

In the title event.. Elite Muay Thai stepped in to replace Team Thunder.. Jonathan Kay took the fight on short notice and went 4 full rounds with Young Tigers ISKA Champ Carlos Garcia. The two clinched hard with tons of knees and Carlos tossed in a few superman punches to keep the crowd cheering. This was a clean, crisp match up between two skilled Muay Thai fighters… and Carlos walked away with ANOTHER BELT! IFC Light Welter Weight TITLE.
Carlos is up on Saturday for the ISKA Super Light Weight Belt, can he make it 3 in a row?!?!?!!

Alan Arzeno and Joe Ray make it hard for me to pick the fighter of the night…. They both ROCKED the place!!
